Join our team for the FIRST TECH Challenge season!
Grades: 8+
GearMinds is assembling our official FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics team for the upcoming season, and we invite you to join our roster. This is a competitive, mentor-led program.
At GearMinds, we provide the resources, workspace, and professional coaching you need to build a championship-caliber robot. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a curious beginner ready to dive in, we have a place for you.
We are specifically recruiting for these specialist tracks:
- Mechanical Engineering: CAD design, 3D printing, and metal fabrication.
- Software Development: Java programming, computer vision, and autonomous pathing.
- Strategy & Operations: Engineering notebook documentation, and outreach/sponsorship management.
What to Expect at Tryouts
- Technical Skills Assessment: You will complete a programming task or research a specific topic and then present your findings to the team.
- Team Collaboration Exercise: We will evaluate how effectively you work in a team to tackle challenges. Teamwork is essential for success in competitions.
- Interest and Availability: We will discuss your interests, relevant experience, and availability for practice sessions.

- Season Duration:
September 2026 through March 2027 - Weekly Schedule:
Team members are expected to attend practice on Saturdays from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at our facility. The total commitment is approximately 8–10 hours per week initially, increasing to 20–25 hours as we approach the competition dates.
Program Fees:
The monthly practice fee is $240. This fee covers:
- All robot parts and replacement components.
- Competition registration fees.
- Team swag and uniforms.
- Nourishing meals on competition days.
